Crazy Ideas...

Holy cow, two posts within a week ... this could almost be habit forming!!

Actually, its probably not a bad idea to start getting back into the habit of posting considering some of the ideas I've been having recently...

With several friends all now looking at round-the-world trips, its gotten my little brain ticking over about something I considered a lot a number of years ago ... cycling the world!

Okay, you can stop laughing now.

Please.

I know, I am 100% dreamer and 0% adventurer, but what's the harm in looking into it??

With the level of work I have to do at the moment, there really isn't a great deal of point my being here, especially as I am off to spend a day next week with another team so I can transfer my job knowledge to them. Was the promise of working on a mega-project for real or was it a line to tempt me? Who knows!!!

Anyway, from what I have managed to find, there are actually a fair few people that have been doing this for a long time, such as these guys from the Netherlands who have a useful blog of information. Granted, it has been a long time since I last rode a bike - about 15 years, at least(!) - so it doesn't take a genius to predict many cuts, grazes and bruises in my future :-)

In my head, I am currently having all these crazy ideas about blogging as I go, photographing the route, taking my little pocket camcorder (Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA9) to record some action stuff as we go, and all that ... but how realistic it all is, I haven't the foggiest.

However, next year may hold the opportunity to try this out for real, on a 'short' journey, at least.

My cousin's husband is trying to get a group together to ride the Pennine Cycleway for charity next year, an approximately 350 mile ride 'through the National Parks of the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland'. Okay, its not going to be exactly the same as a world-wide cycle trip due to the number of B&Bs that will be involved, but what better opportunity to try out the idea as a taster???

Just a bit of a hiccup: I live in a flat with no place to store a bike, so getting some practice in could be an issue...
