Women and Chocolate

So, according to that wonderful bunch, The Scientists (this time of The Mind Lab), women prefer chocolate to kissing.

Well, who'da thunk it?! No surprises there really, was there?!

Was there??

In fairness, they did say that there was an equal reaction in the guys, but they're not known for their chocolate addiction as much as the ladies!

If this means that chocolate is more appealing, then either it really is more addictive than physical passion or the ladies just aren't getting the right attention from their guys ... but then they haven't met me yet ;-)

Despite still having a dodgy tum this morning from something I ate Saturday (I'm putting it down to the lemon curd), I went into work this morning and brightened up some when I saw I had a package waiting for me. I love receiving parcels through the post - it gives me a good reason to spend money :-D

There was only one thing it could be: the cards I had ordered with my Flickr details on had arrived.

I had hoped to have darkened the image enough so as not to get any burnout, but it seems I didn't quite do it enough, as much of the detail in the middle of the dandelion has gone :-(

At least I put on there 'Amateur Photographer' so there won't be any high expectations!!

Well, training for the Great North Run hasn't gone quite according to plan, but last night I did succeed in setting up the gadgets and widgets for tracking my training :-) I had refrained from getting sucked into the Nike and iPod combo, but the lure of glossy tech and the trendy adverts sucked me in and spat me out the other side, complete with green iPod Nano , Nike Shox Arraw trainers, a slick black'n'red Nike armband , Nike+ shoe widget thingy and a cool black-and-white shirt designed by a closet sci-fi costume designer*. The final week in the run up to the South West Coast-to-Coast is here and, in less than a week, I will be starting my first UltraChallenge in order to raise money for Crohn's and Colitis UK . Since doing the massive 32 mile training walk a month ago, I have been able to get out for shorter walks once or twice a week, which have been steadily getting longer.   On Saturday, I managed 12.37 miles in a decent 3 hours 39 minutes, though with the wrong choice of shoes, which left me with blisters and sore feet.  It really made me appreciate how good my boot and sock combo is! Oh, and underwear.  Having walked in normal boxers and suffered the chafed consequences for a day or so, I ended up buying a couple of pair of SAXX Boxer Briefs .  I'm generally not one for buying expensive undies and feel that even £22 for 3 pair of boxers is somewhat extortionate.  However, if you want to feel like the family jewels are in good hands and you want to be able to shower afte...

Where'd ya go??

A year or so ago, I wrote a rather harsh review of the cappucinos made by a new smoothie bar that had opened in Tring, called Smooth ... and no, I'm not adding any links to that post as I am quite ashamed of how harsh I was! However, that didn't actually stop me from going there most lunchtimes to grab a smoothie and cookie for lunch: prior to M&S opening there, it was the only place to get anything reasonably healthy without hiking out of town to the little Tesco store. With the opening of M&S , all the good food options started appearing, so Smooth, Sandwich Plus and Tesco were all pushed to the back of my mind. Smooth re-opened after a short refurbishment period, but something seemed to be wrong. You couldn't guarantee from one day to the next that it would be open.
